Online
Dating - Can You Really Find Love on the Web
So, you're in Midlife and still single.
Despite the circumstances that brought you to this single,
possibly lonely place, you might find yourself asking
the all-important question, "should I consider
an online dating romance?" I think the best answer
is "why not?" There are precautions and safety
measures you need to take when you consider an online
dating service, but in many ways it's safer, more comfortable,
more anonymous, and perhaps more successful in the long
run, than any other way of starting a romance.
Many turn to online dating after tiring of the bar
scene or at the end of a long- term relationship. The
"bar fly" so to speak, might well think that
there is nothing but losers or those interested in only
one night stands out there looking for a woman or man.
For those that have loved and lost, it might feel like
it's been so many years since they've dated, they simply
don't know how to flirt or look for a mate.
There may even be those that, while they might welcome
the bar scene, can't tolerate the smoke - or the drunks,
or dancing, or whatever. Just for the record, I love
to dance, but (I guess) not everyone shares my passion.
Wouldn't it be nice to know that before asking for the
dance, and being turned down!
And, Yes, I have no problem asking a man to dance.
I think everyone is entitled to ask anyone they want!
Online dating agencies may just be your best bet.
Online dating has been around for about a decade now.
Most people who previously asked themselves the question
about trying them decided not to because they were embarrassed
to admit defeat (at the bar?!.) They thought that online
dating was for losers or those who couldn't find a mate
on their own. Online dating simply wasn't accepted in
many circles.
That is no longer the case, however. A national U.S.
television broadcast company completed a recent study
about Internet dating. They found that of those Americans
that had Internet access (and most do) 15 percent had
visited at least one Internet dating Web site. Surprisingly,
73 percent of these were 30 years old and over. Even
one third of those who hadn't taken part in online dating
said that they felt it was safe.
Online dating is now openly used, and widely accepted.
The taboos are off. The question of "should you
consider an online romance?" is no longer about
any stigma involved.
You might as well try it, with all of the search capabilities
available, your new love might be just around the corner.
After all, Match.com boasts making over 250 THOUSAND
successful matches last year alone - one of those could
have been you!
